Blurring the boundaries between high street and high-end is something that has been attempted time and time again over the past few years by high street brands, but no one has quite achieved such phenomenal status like Topshop has.

On the other side of this fashion-come-royal story is the nature in which we can now view Kate Middleton in. For us, here at London-based Luxe Models, it brings the lovely Kate just a little further down to Earth. Now to important matters: which Topshop item was good enough for royalty? (Literally – ahem). US Weekly tells us that the dress Kate picked was a “Deirdre dress, a delicate spring sheath with a mandarin collar, a cross-over neckline, and an elasticized waist” (elasticised being the key element, we presume!).

It’s really refreshing to see this shift in Royal nature; the gap between us, the public, and the likes of royalty shrinks a little more through the ever-powerful medium that is Topshop! Of course, when the Queen herself steps out sporting a classic Topshop frill, we’ll know times really are a-changing.

It’s not just William, Kate and their families that are over the moon, millions around the world are delighted to finally hear the great news.

The wonderful news was confirmed last night, much earlier than the Royal couple expected, as Kate was unfortunately rushed to King Edward VII hospital with acute morning sickness, she is expected to spend the next few days there with her loving husband by her side.

For women with hyperemesis gravidarum their vomiting can be so severe they cannot keep food or liquid down.

The condition usually continues past the first three months of pregnancy and can pass by week 21, but may also last longer.

A Clarence House spokesman said today: ‘The situation is the same as yesterday – we said she would stay in for several days and that is still the case. It’s a period of rest that she needs, so she will stay in for several days.’

He would not comment on Catherine’s condition this morning or confirm whether members of the Royal family are expected to visit today.

A spokesman said the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales and members of both families are delighted with the news, with David Cameron tweeting: “they will make wonderful parents”.

Last night Kate appeared to be responding well to the treatment and its now just a matter of rest.

Uncle-to-be Prince Harry, who is serving in Afghanistan, was told by email at his base and the announcement was also Tweeted by Clarence House, prompting the couple’s official website to crash.  

The Press Association reported that the pregnancy has not passed the 12-week point and that the announcement was prompted by her medical condition.

The timing of the Duchess’s pregnancy will lead to immediate speculation about where the baby was conceived.

The fact that Kate is not yet 12 weeks pregnant means the baby was conceived after the couple’s holiday in France at the beginning of September.

The baby will be born third in line to the throne, thanks to laws changed last year in Britain, and it will be the first time in almost 120 years a serving monarch gets to meet a great grandchild born directly into succession to the crown.

The world will now be in, a well expected, speculation over the sex and name of the Royal baby.

Since the couple married in April 2011 numerous speculations has been flying around the internet and in magazines about whether or not the couple are expecting, but the happy couple are yet to announce the news.

For anyone who is planning on having a family there can be pressure but understandably there is intense pressure on the royal couple to have a baby as they are one of our nations most loved couple. It seems that every time Kate is pictured holding a bag over her stomach or refusing to eat a peanut butter paste, the headlines and internet go crazy with rumours

The latest speculation came about when The Duchess of Cambridge reportedly politely turned down a glass of wine twice, whilst visiting Singapore, and raised a glass of water whilst making a toast along with Price William. Adding further  fuel to rumours, when asked how many children he and Kate would like to have, William quickly responded by saying “two.” This giving us an indication he was dropping hints and the royal couple have been discussing the matter.

A further flurry of speculation occurred, whilst the couple were celebrating their one year anniversary last April, it was reported that they had been spotted preparing a nursery, maybe for a new arrival to the family.

In May the Duke, a helicopter rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force, gave an interview where it was reported he said he and Kate were eager to have children.

“I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I, are looking forward to having a family in the future,” the Duke of Cambridge said. Asked by Couric if there was anything else he wanted to share, he answered with a laugh, “You won’t get anything out of me. Tight lipped.”

But maybe it is all just coincidence and rumours and it could be some time before the Duchess of Cambridge baby will arrive.

It’s been exciting year of the Royal Family with the Diamond Jubilee and Olympics and sadly with Price Phillip having to visit hospital a few times this year has been very busy so this year may not have been the right time to add on an extra member to the family. But maybe 2013?

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a guided tour of the Children’s Hospice, where they met with staff and patients.

Kate sat with 15-year old Zakwan Anwar, is a Leukaemia sufferer who goes through pain every day, yet the young boy turned down his blood transfusion in order to meet with the future Queen.  She also gave birthday wishes and signed his birthday card; Zakwan had turned 15 two days earlier.

Later on the Duchess of Cambridge admitted that she was ‘nervous’ as she spoke to the Queen of Malaysia.

The Malaysian Queen said the Kate had said to her, ‘I was so nervous and I am very glad that it is over with. There was an amazing atmosphere.

Kate and Will dined with the Royal family of Malaysia and other people who play an important role in Malaysia. The Duchess wore an embroidered white Alexander McQueen floor length gown, which featured the Malaysian flower Hibiscus in gold detail.

The Duke and Duchess were handed some beautiful gifts when they attended the dinner. Prince William received a gold encrusted Malay warriors sword, also known as a kris. His wife was given some black lace peep toe shoes made by Malaysian designer Lewre, a Batik dress as well as a glittering diamante clutch.

The Royal couple have a lot of Royal engagements to attend during their Diamond Jubilee tour including visiting a Mosque, holding a tea party and making many speeches.

Princess Diana was extremely excited when she was told she had the exotic flower named after her. However two weeks after she vowed to see it, she was sadly killed in a car crash.

After 15 years the orchid finally got a royal approval from her eldest son William. Prince William said repeatedly, ‘it’s beautiful.. it’s beautiful’ as he stood by the 3ft plant. Kate and Williams plant will join Princess Diana’s in the VIP area of the gardens.

The Vanda William Catherine, a pick and white hybrid orchid, was specially designed to honour the Royal Couples marriage. The Duke and Duchess both signed a certificate to formally name the plant.

During the trip to the Botanical Gardens the Duchess of Cambridge wore a beautiful kimono-styled light pink dress by Jenny Packham, which situated an orchid pattern.

After their visit to the gardens, Will and Kate were taken to Raffles Hotel where they plan to stay throughout their three nights in Singapore. On arrival, Kate received a bunch of orchids by Lynn Choy, daughter of Mrs Annie Choy, the hotel’s director of marketing.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, principal private secretary and equerry to the Duke and Duchess said: “The Duke and Duchess will use the tour to pay tribute – through what they do and say and who they meet – to the Queen’s lifetime and dedication to the mix of peoples and cultures that make up all of Her Majesty’s realms and the Commonwealth.  The tour will comprise a mixture of formal and informal moments which reflect these aims and Duke and Duchess’s characters and interests.”

The Olympic ambassador, Kate Middleton, has really been getting stuck into the London 2012 Paralympics by attending as many events as possible. The Duchess of Cambridge has been spotted taking part in a Mexican wave, and is constantly cheering on the fantastic British Athletes.

Kate has been seen as a ‘golden girl’ or an ‘Olympic mascot’ as it is claimed that she ‘brings luck’ to TeamGB’s athletes.

Kate also got the chance to award British Gold medallist, Aled Reid, his medal. The Duchess of Cambridge had been invited to award two medals, and it was just a ‘happy coincidence’ that she handed Mr Reid his medal.

Reid declared himself the ‘happiest man in the world’ after receiving his medal from the Duchess. Aled Reid had already received a bronze medal for his performance in the Shot Put event.

With the London 2012 Paralympic Games only halfway through, TeamGB have a jaw-dropping 95 medals, 26 of those being Gold!

Kate was also spotted cheering on TeamGB at the rowing event with Lady Louise. The Duchess and Lady were together at  the Paralympic event, which is located just outside of London. Lady Louise, Prince Williams nine year old cousin, daughter of Prince Edward, was also one of the attendants at the Duke and Duchess Royal Wedding back in April 2011

It is thought that the Royal Couple will visit he athletes at the London 2012 Games village before they go on their tour. William and Kate have agreed to represent the Queen on a Diamond Jubilee tour to the south of Asia which begins on September 9^th.

At a Diamond Jubilee thanksgiving service, William and Kate spoke to the Solomon Islands’ Governor General Sir Frank Kabuli and Prince William said, ‘We’re extremely excited, both of us have never been anywhere near there’.

William and Kate witness the amazing tropical beauty of the South Asian Islands as well as visiting the world’s oldest rainforest as part of their Diamond Jubilee tour.

When they stop in Sabah, Borneo, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be able to witness some of the rarest and exotic plants and creatures on the plant, such as the endangered Bornean Orangutan.

Kate is also offering two lucky people the chance to have tea with her. The Duchess is running The Ultimate Royal Tea Party Competition in Malaysia. The Expedition showed world-class Olympic and Paralympic athletes and those who also work behind the team.

In the expedition pictures showing the Taekwondo fighting, men’s rowing team and the London Lord Mayor Boris Johnson. Kate also saw a picture of herself at the TeamGB training ground, playing with the Hockey Team.

With Kate being the Ambassador for the London 2012 Olympic Games, TeamGB and ParalympicsGB it was no surprise that she attended the expedition. Kate is also known as a great sports woman as well as a ‘keen’ photographer.

Kate wore a royal blue Stella McCartney dress, with black heels. She was also wearing a gold necklace worth a whopping £49,000. Despite the gold necklace sporting 5 gold hoops, a St James spokesman simply said, ‘It is a personal piece she has had for some time. It is not an official Olympic item but it’s appropriate to wear it.’

Kate has played a major role in attending charities and engagements, representing the Royal Family. The Duchess of Cambridge has taken on her royal role with open arms since she married Prince William in April 2011, making her the heir to the throne.

The nature documentary film African Cats follows the lives of a pride of lions and a family of cheetahs on the plains of Kenya, and tells the story of their battle for survival.

The film is raising funds for the UK-based conservation charity Tusk Trust, of which Prince William is a patron.  The trust supports projects across Africa by helping to safeguard endangered animals.  Its work aims to educate local communities about how to live harmoniously alongside wildlife.

The red carpet event, which took place on the evening Wednesday 25 April 2012 at the BFI, South Bank Centre, London, was also attended by 100 school children with links to the charities supported by The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as high profile figures including Guy Ritchie and Ben Fogle and Dragon’s Den Judge Deborah Meaden.

In his speech, William spoke of the alarming statistics about wild animals in the African Bush, and referred to the number of lions, which has fallen to just 25,000, showing a huge 50% reduction in the past 20 years.  Similarly cheetah numbers have fallen to just 12,000 today.

“We must act now, coherently and together, if the situation is to be reversed and our legacy – our global, natural legacy – preserved. Tomorrow will be too late.” said the Prince.
