The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’s Royal Tour 2011
William and Catherine will make a nine day tour of Canada, followed by a three day visit to California in the United States of America, before returning to the United Kingdom.
Commencing their tour in the National Capital Region of Canada on the 30 June, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will visit many parts of the vast North American country in a journey that will encompass eight cities, including Ottawa, Ontario, Gatineau, Montreal and Quebec City, and cover more than 5,000 miles. The tour will also take the Royal Couple to the North West Territories, Prince Edward Island and the Winter Olympics Host City of Calgary.
The ‘Moving Forward Together’ Royal Tour, as it has become known, coincides with Canada Day celebrations on 1 July. William and Catherine will be in the Canadian capital of Ottawa to mark the occasion.
The Royal Family has close connections with Canada. Canada is a Commonwealth country with the Queen as Sovereign Head. Queen Elizabeth II plays an important role in Canada, both symbolically and ceremonially, and makes regular visits to the country.
Although William has been to Canada, in an official capacity, on previous occasions, this will be his first official visit to the USA. For Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge, this will be her first visit to North America.
Whilst in California, the Royal Couple will tour Los Angeles and its surrounding areas.
